Deeper Lines

What are deeper lines?

Deeper lines are more noticeable creases that may remain visible even when the face is relaxed. They often develop gradually over time and are a common part of the naturalageing process. The depth and location of these lines varies between individuals.

What causes deeper lines?

Deeper lines usually develop as a result of several factors working together, including:

The underlying cause varies from person to person, making an individual assessment an important part of the consultation.

Assessment

During your consultation, we’ll assess your skin quality, facial anatomy and the surrounding facial structures. We’ll also assess how facial movement and age-related structural changes contribute to the appearance of the lines. Deep lines have usually developed over time and tend to be persistant to some degree. Understanding the underlying cause helps determine whether management is appropriate for you. We will discuss skin care and sun protection.

Why assessment is important

Deeper lines are not always caused by changes in the skin alone. In many people, changes in the supporting tissues of the face, facial movement and skin quality all contribute to their appearance. Without a comprehensive assessment, management may not address the underlying cause of the concern or achieve an outcome that meets your expectations. A careful assessment helps guide appropriate, individualised management.

Individualised management

During your consultation, we’ll discuss whether management is appropriate for your individual concerns. If so, we’ll explain the available options, together with the expected benefits, limitations and potential risks, so you can make an informed decision about your care.
