What are nasal (bunny) lines?
Nasal lines, often called bunny lines, are the fine diagonal lines that develop on either side of the nose. They are usually most noticeable when smiling, laughing or scrunching the nose and may become more visible over time. They are a common part of facial expression and vary between individuals.
What causes nasal (bunny) lines?
Nasal lines usually develop as a result of several factors working together, including:
The underlying cause varies from person to person, making an individual assessment an important part of the consultation.
Assessment
During your consultation, we’ll assess how the muscles around your nose work together with the surrounding areas of the mid face and lips . We’ll also assess your skin quality, facial anatomy and the way your face moves during expression. This helps us understand the underlying causeof your concern and whether management is appropriate for you.
Why assessment is important
Nasal lines are closely related to the movement of the surrounding facial muscles and may occur alongside other changes in the upper face. In some people, they are simply a normal feature of facial expression. Without a comprehensive assessment, management may not address the underlying cause of the concern or achieve an outcome that meets your expectations. A careful assessment helps guide appropriate, individualised management.
Individualised management
During your consultation, we’ll discuss whether management is appropriate for your individual concerns. If so, we’ll explain the available options, together with the expected benefits, limitations and potential risks, so you can make an informed decision about your care.
